A Letter Written on Aug 25, 1915

Fran, my Darling,

The after effects of last night make me more tired tonight than I was last night when I wrote you, as this will be short but will contain a bit of news that will sound good to you I think.

AJR told me of having raised the salary of one gink in the office today, and asked me not to be sore about it, that he was going to take care of me properly on January 1st.

So I told him that as long as we could be married next Spring I would be satisfied to work for what I'm getting now. In answer to his question, I said we were going to try to live on $2000.- per annum, and he said he guessed we could get married by next Spring all right. I almost threw my arms around his neck. Gosh, I'm tickled to death about it, and hardly know what to do. He said I was worth considerably more to them as a clerk than they were paying me, but I was not a clerk there but rather like his adopted son, who was going to do remarkable things there yet. That was some of his O. V Stuff, but my worries are practically over as far as money matters are concerned on Jan 1st and I have all but his promise for the wanted raise.

Our plans won't be changed, Girlie, guide yourself entirely by them, and on Feb. 15/1916 I will be the happiest person living.

Thanks muchly for your letter received this morning. It's fine your having company on the trip. Have a bully good time, and may God bless you.

Thy very happy
Boy [Ernst Huttlinger]
