Seminary. Sep 9th 1874
Dear girls,
Two of my new (third) section have just left, and I propose to both with you a while now - wish you were here, both of you. Hattie will want to know of the girls that are back & I will try & tell of all I can remember. First and foremost is Julia Todd - Lill Carpenter & Clara Clark - by-the-way I went to Northampton this P.M. with the two last damsels, and what will be interesting to you Hattie. Mr. Miller inquired of the girls what teacher was going with them, and after being told, in the course of his general direction about the horse mentioned that they were not to drive thro' any brooks. The girls told all this one to me &, I suppose, was dired [?] what Mr Miller could be thinking of to give them that funny injunction. I could see the point, however.
Well, I have wandered - To return the old scholars are in the majority this year. We have at present 5 divisions of old & 5 sections of new scholared. [sic] Miss Green, Hooker, Wood Bradford and myself have the Juniors. I have a choice set of girls, I am thinking, the name of one Annie Laurie - Mr. Stebbins came up this morn. and brought 250 bulbs for our collection gathered in two weeks at Mt. Washington this summer[.] He & Dimmock are coming up in his works and we are going on to Mt. Tom collecting I expect. The girls have several of them brought back nice collections & will probably get the prize offered. Did I tell you about it?
Good night - [unsigned but written by Cornelia Clapp to her sisters]
