A Letter Written on Sep 18, 1869

Seminary Sep. 18th 1869

My dear sister Mary

Thou shalt have an answer to that nice long prompt and splendid letter of thine.

How does thou prosper these days? Going to school yet, or are you yet waiting for the "spirit to move" - Oh those men! why dont [sic] they wake up and start something before the fall is over. I got a letter from Miss Bailey last night - of course it was reviving as her letters always are. I wonder if mother has answered her letter yet.

I dont [sic] get a word from Father himself, nor a mention of him in any of your letters. I still live in hope that I shall hear soon. It is Saturday night and I am thinking of you all a great deal[.] Your picture and Charlie's are perfect I prize them more and more every day - How I want Hattie's and Richard's - as good.

I can say no more tonight.

Monday eve. How very very glad I was to get a letter from you to night I thank you all so much for writing me so often this term. But I am feeling almost homesick when I think of you our (or yours I should say, perhaps) Hattie's being sick.

A longer letter than this I had intended to write but circumstances prevent just at this time

Your loving sister
Cornelia

I am going to write to Charlie soon.
