New YorkDear Miss Turner,
I do thank you for your thoughtfulness in sending word to me about the death of Miss Smith. I am feeling it as a deeply personal loss. It is hard to realize that I can no longer look forward to talking over with her the details of my experiences which are due in such large measure to the inspiration of her teaching and friendship. She was very very understanding.
I suppose there will be a memorial service for her. Will you please let me know?
In writing of my loss, I also am thinking [?] about you and your beautiful friendship with Miss Smith.
Sincerely
Mary Augusta ClarkNovember 22, 1929.
I have written to a number of alumnae about this news.
