A Letter written on Apr 25, 1921

Shelburne Mass.
Apr. 25, 1921.

Dear Miss Palmer:

After graduation I remained at home except for one summer spent in teaching on Cape Cod until Sept. 1974. [sic] Then I took a position in the public school of Evansville Ind. In 1878 I returned home & taught in our own district school for several years. I entered the Oswego State Normal School in the fall of 1882 & graduated in 1884. From Oswego I went to Hoboken N.J. to accept a position as English Teacher in the Girls Academic Class of the German Academy. I remained until the fall of 1891. Since then with my sisters I have been farming on a small scale. My mother & older sister having died I am left to care for my other sister who is an invalid. I was librarian of the Public Library in Shelburne for 25 yrs. & have been a trustee of the same since it was started in 1892.

I enclose two photographs. [no longer with the letter] One taken when I graduated at Mt. Holyoke College and the other when I was teaching in Evansville Ind. Please return them.

Yours truly,
Mercy A. Anderson
