June 1, 1921.Dear Cornelia Clapp:-
This forenoon I devoted to class letter which I send to you as I judge you will all expect to have the absentees give some account of themselves. I cannot say all I want to with pen and ink. I did look forward with eagerness to that long talk we hoped to have somewhere this summer, but now it cannot be.
I hope nothing will hinder the others whom you expected from coming. A wonderful letter from Minnie Savage tells me how well she has quite suddenly become. I wish she might think herself well eno' to come to the Reunion -
Emily Wilson of the Class of '61 from New York will be there. I hope you will meet her and see for yourself what a fine woman she is with so few signs of old age. She is one of my "sisters" of whom I am very proud. Martha Hathaway is another, you remember her. I had a letter from her today telling me she has been very ill since I saw her in March -
There are only four or five Mt. Holyoke women in this vicinity. Miss Helen L. Hatch, of 87 yrs. is the oldest and a very influential woman. Mt. Holyoke does not seem to know to whom it is wise to write here in Fresno but writes to some one of us influence - [sic]
Do write me soon after the great event -
Yours ever
Frances A DeanTell Mary Phipps it was a real grief to me that I did not see her last year - and suppose Gelston not far away. Shame we did not meet. F
