[The letter is undated, and the envelope does not survive. It might have been written for Cornelia's 50th college reunion. May 2 does land on a Monday in 1921.]
314 Osborn Laboratory,
New Haven, Conn.Dear Dr. Clapp:
This morning I received a telegram from Miss Cushing asking me to go to Baltimore for the May 3rd dinner. My first impulse was to say no for I'd never before been asked or warned of any alumnae affair or Endowment fund deed and I knew how this occurred but I had been reading "Mary Lyon" so I wired back "Yes."
Now the point is this, I do not wish to miss you on your trip north. I shall come right back here and be in town again by May 5. I shall probably leave here next Monday May 2, that is unless they change their minds. I want to see you and I want to ask you some more questions. [smile face]
Thank you for the notes regarding the publications. I found yours in the Woods Hole lectures with out any trouble. I haven't search for Miss Wallace's anymore.
Love to youss [sic] always,
Ann.
