A Letter Written on Aug 21, 1907

Dear Mamma:-

Note the elegance of this free stationery! Everything corresponds. It's the biggest show I ever saw by all odds.

Shopped yesterday afternoon and had good luck, I think, tho I didn't get done. Went out to Flora's in the evening, and that's why I'm writing now. Write to Mrs. Kittredge to see if it will be convenient for her to have you go up next week, as Flora will not be home until after the first week in Sept., and I think she'd much prefer to be at home when you are there. Probably it will not make any difference to Mrs. Kittredge. I should think you could go up next Thurs. or Fri - probably - don't you think so?

Flora wants you to come only the time isn't as convenient now. Uncle Cleveland's arm is almost well. He seemed nicely.

Jessee comes thro' tomorrow - is going to see Flora. I'm going to try to connect with her for lunch if she stays until that 2 o'clock train.

It looks as if it might rain but I guess it wont until after lunch. It's time for that now. I got you an umbrella yesterday so I have two, both at the house.

Hope things are going on all right.

Love to you -
Abby.

Wed. noon.

[A postal card was enclosed in the letter, although it was mailed separately from Abby to her mother, and has its own postmarks. It was postmarked Aug 19, 1907 9pm in Boston Mass, Aug 20, 1907 7am in Nashua NH, Aug 20, 1907 8:30 am in Nashua NH, Aug 21, 1907 8:30pm in Nashua NH (on the reverse), Aug 20, 1907 8pm in South Hadley, and Aug 21, 1907 7am in South Hadley.]

Great times! Everybody here. Miss Clapp came about five minutes after I did. Went to meetings this P.M. and then shopped a few minutes to get gloves for reception tonight &c. Met Prof. Bristol & wife for dinner at restaurant, so the four of us had a jolly time. Forgot my card for the Wed. reception. Please send it (the little card) at once. You will find it in my package of letters in box on bookcase. It is address to Prof. A.H. Turner, So. Hadley - I believe. Guess you will find it all right tho I am sorry to bother you. Lots of things to go to - I certainly shall not get home before Fri. night.

Love to you - hope things are all right -
Abby.
