Sunday morningDear Mamma:-
I'll write just a note before we go to church. It rains quite hard, the first rain we have had to bother us at all. Yesterday it sprinkled a little but not enough to do any harm. I just went to see the St. Gaudens exhibit at the art museum instead of going to the Bronx Zoölogical Garden. The reliefs in marble and bronze, and the casts of the big statues made by him were fine. So glad I went in. Tomorrow I'll try to get up to the Bronx.
I looked around for your silk dress, and found some good looking things, but on the whole liked the Boston sample best, so I have ordered that. Shall mail the letter tomorrow morning, but the goods will not reach So. Hadley until after I do.
It is now evening. We heard Dr. Jefferson preach this morning, and this afternoon I met Elizabeth and we went to St. Bartholomew's for vespers. Both churches had splendid music - chorus choirs. At Dr. Jefferson's we saw as many as half a dozen Holyoke people. Have seen several others at different places. There would be plenty of people to see and things to do for another week.
I stayed with the Shearers for supper, and had a nice time. Elizabeth is coming up the Thursday before Easter and stay[ing] till the Monday after. I'm glad. She's just as much fun as ever. It wont be any bother to look out for her at all.
I presume I may get to So. Hadley before supper on Tues. but don't be alarmed if I don't turn up until 10 o'clock. You mgiht put my sheets on the bed downstairs, if you feel like it - and a bedspread. Guess I'll sleep down there. We have a nice quiet room here, so we've had a good chance to sleep at night.
Love to you,
Abby H. T-Oh, I got some yarn for your shawl that I think is mighty pretty.
