Friday night

Dear Mamma:-

I'm still in Nashua. I couldn't seem to get around to go before tonight and so I decided to stay the night here and go down in the morning early. Your postal came today and I was glad to know that you are all right. I guess you've had enough wind to last for a while. It has been a regular gale here both yesterday and today.

Yesterday I took dinner at Jessee's and we went down to the house. It is certainly very attractive and they will probably move by the 15th or 20th of January. I'll tell you about it. Mrs. Giddings liked her tray very much and they all send much love to you.

Then I went to Dr. Wallace and got vaccinated. I thought I'd rather have him scratch my arm than Dr. Lang. It probably will not take - anyhow I'll not have any trouble with it before next week. He inquired for you and wished to be remembered to you.

I have a hat which seems to me rather good-looking, and I'll get a fine winter tramping hat out of it some day! It's very plain but not unbecoming, I think.

Today I've called on Grace Stratton and on Miss Butterfield. They have a new patient - Ira Harris' sister and Miss Butterfield wanted me to tell you that she had nightmare [sic] the first night, but that she waked up more easily than you did! Miss Butterfield is well and sent her love to you. Mildred liked the doll very much, and so did Mildred Stratton. Poor Mrs. Emerson fell the night before Xmas and broke her hip. She thought she had gotten to the bottom of the stairs when she had one more step. She is at the Emergency Hospital and if it hadn't been after calling hours when Miss Butterfield told me I should have gone to see her. It's too bad.

I called on Edith Wallace and Elizabeth McClure by telephone and had nice chats with them. Here is a clipping which will interest you. The deed is done!

Eva sends her love to you. I've had such a good time with her here, and have gotten quite a few extra hours in bed since I came. I'll have Eva get some flowers for you and me and take them to Mrs. Emerson, I guess. Her mind is a good deal failed, too.

Love to Miss Dean. Tell her I forgot to say I didn't have time to get my laundry for Mrs. Sault ready after all. I thought it could wait and there were tags to be put on and so forth so I just didn't get it ready that last night.

Oh, I saw Mrs. Peavy in the Hudson car. She was so glad to hear from you.

Much love to you,
Abby
