Dear Mamma:-This is before breakfast Wednesday morning! I was so sleepy last night that I didn't finish the writing I ought to have done for my work, but I guess I can get some time this morning.
The work is most interesting. Johns Hopkins is certainly a fine place. I'm glad of the chance to see more of it from the inside. But I'm sorry that nearly every one I know is out of town. Esther was at the station to meet me, but I missed her, not knowing she was to be there. I'm so sorry for that, though coming to the hospital Monday night to stay made my work easier.
Last night I went with a Mount Holyoke alumna to see someone who may give a few hundred dollars to Mount Holyoke - and perhaps for the equipment of our department. Then I went home with the alumna to dinner, where Miss Morriss and Miss Hinsdale were also guests. So we had a pleasant Mt. Holyoke occasion, though the alumna is one I never knew much.
But I must stop and go on to breakfast. Tell Miss Safford my New York address for Saturday night is the Cosmopolitan Club, 133 East 40th St. I can have the room only one night, so the address for Monday and Tues. a.m. will be 122 West 85th, c/o Miss Josephine Goldmark. I don't know where I'll sleep - but they will find me a place. I'm glad to stay at the Cosmopolitan Club because folks say it is very attractive[.]
Love to Miss Safford and to you -
AbbyIt is very warm and springlike here. Grass green.
