A Partial Letter Written on Mar 18, 1864

[This letter is on two pages, but only 1/3 of the first page and 2/3 of the second page exist. The rest has been cut away.]

Willow Home March 18 /64.

My dear Mary

I received your letter this afternoon and I shall write you a few lines this eve, so it can go out in the mornings mail, - your note

- We shall expect to see you one week from to-day. The time will soon come. - Anna is quite unwell tonight so she has not gone to the Institute. She has done most of the work to-day (I have no girl yet) as I did not get up till after breakfast feeling very tired this morning my strength seems

to be married to a Mr Lawrence of Cohassett. [sic] Anna is invited, of course. She is to be marr[i]ed in the evening and leave for C- the next day where a reception is to be given the same eve I think at his Fathers. George and Lady are expected, he is in Boston, She was in N.Y. the last Anna new [sic] of her, I do hope there will [be] no one else come from N.Y. and I dont thin there is much danger of it.

You must not mention this to Julia or any one so as to have it get back here before the ceremony takes place. Sarah is older than Anna. She will be nineteen next

PS This is the anniversary of my Father and Mothers Wedding, fifty four years ago this eve, they were married. Twenty one years ago yesterday my Father died. How many scenes I have passed through since then, Last Monday the day you wrote me was the anniversary of dear little Eddies birthday. You did not speak of it perhaps you did not think of it. Next Tuesday the 22nd will be the anniversary of you[r] Uncle Eastmans Wedding. This month to me has many associations connected with it, some happy ones and some Sad. -
