My dear Miss Turner.
I am late in thanking you for kind remembrance, especially as I did enjoy the friskiness of your card. Nothing could have pleased me better - I would return it in kind, if I were a little stronger & not afraid to venture out on the icy walks. It would be no fun for me to fall and bring a lot of trouble upon others.
I did have many and various gifts for Christmas & New Year's and perhaps they help me (yours certainly) to begin the New Year, with "a cheerful courage on."
You have had many cares and anxieties and sorrows too in the past, and your present burdens are not light, as no true teacher's can be.
May you have better success then you dream of now. You have done me as as well as others much good.
Ever your friend, Anna C. Edwards.
