Dearest Bubby,

Will you forgive me if I write you on this sort of paper? Went down town to get some envelopes to match my paper today and - arrived home to find all my paper gone - Yep! was mad enough to let slip one or tow real "fee-rocious" words - but then, I'm a deacon's daughter! and I must live up to the "rep."

I had just finished my studying and tho't the "next" best thing I could amuse myself at doing was to write to you!

Well dear, what d'ya think! yes, it has happened - my little friend from Colgate has spoken to me - ha, ha, I smile. This is how it happened -

[arrow to figure at lower left] enter the villain T.E.B. you know that hat that covers(?) my eyes!

Scene I

All the opposite sex sitting on the wall gazing at the fair damsels as they enter [sic] hero!

The fair damsel walks right by - and up three flights of stairs

Xplanation: [sic] Now the day previous (Thursday) as I told you, I sat on the stairs and when the hero came up & was too bashful to speak just flipped right by him & said nothing.

Scene II

The dot represents the villain, or fair damsel the * represents the place on the stairs where the hero saw me Thursday - well, he came up the stairs after me & xpected [sic] me to be on the stairs - but - stung! If you could have seen the blank xpression [sic] - Honestly, Bub dear, it was funny - I, sitting on the bench, could not help laughing out loud. Then the bell rang and this is how it happened.

Scene III

I walked in & sat in back row as you see - He walked in & sat in chair in aisle - I turned & looked at him, just casually, you know - and he said - "Do you understand this ec. theory?" I said "no" & over he came & sat next to me.

That was on Friday - Today he came in & sat with me - and - gave me his card. He is a junior next year at Colgate - Should have graduated last year but has been in France two years -

Now I ask you, Bub dear, wasn't he presuming to pick me up that way!!!! pardon me while I smile - when I told Aunt Libbie she said - "Why Frances, I am surprised, you are a flirt, now I want you to stop it!"

You know, sweetheart, it is funny but now that I've spoken to friend flirt all the excitement is over & I don't care a hoot about him. I wonder why? Are you anxious to know? Well, I won't tell you now - Nope not a bit of it. But you know me, don't you dear?

For the last few days it has done nothing but rain, rain, rain - As a result, I didn't get out to church yesterday. Of course, Uncle John wanted to know why.

Well, dear, I must quit now and turn in because it is late - Don't work too hard and don't forgit [sic] me will you?

All my love,
Fran.
