(Late at night)

Dearest Pat,

Despite the hour, I just had to sit down and drop you a few lines - especially to thank you for a wonderful weekend. I really enjoyed every minute spent with you, and thought the dance, party, dinner and vespers wonderful.

Smokers and late hours the past few evenings have left their effect: a barking cough which racks my poor frame every few minutes. Hope to recover by Saturday so as to not to put a damper on the festivities. The theme for the dance is "Casino", and roulette wheels are springing up all over the place. Better practice up on your gambling, Sticky Fingers. Also drinking, for the Fish House Punch is going to be very powerful, I hear. By the way, it seems that the cry is to get a date at our sister gambling den across the Notch. Know any card sharks I could ask? I've heard Pearsons [the dorm where Pat lives] is full of them - esp. in Room - I mean casino - 18. [Pat's dorm room] Would love to "deal" with one - take her for a "spin" and hope not to have to "poker". Maybe I'll "hit the jackpot" if you look hard! Seriously, dear - it will be "dice" to see you again.

Haven't started studying yet, so tomorrow is a busy day. Room groups for rushing, American Studies reading, etc. etc. - only bright prospect is seeing you. Am sending invitation for Don and Judy - if they are able to come, would be glad to have them.

Will let you know transportation set-up on Friday - haven't gotten rides as yet. Is your mailbox as empty as mine? (all my own fault, I admit!) How are rehersals [sic], arm, and school?

And so goodnight, sweet -

Love
Don
