A Letter Written on Nov 27, 1956

Tues. Eve.

Dear Patty:

Just a short note to let you know we arrived home okay. We had nice weather all the way, in fact the first time we travelled the turnpike and no rain. Coming back to Hartford we got in a small snow flurry but it stopped before we got to the motel. It rained during the night and was much warmer yesterday morning. The sun even came out while we were in N.Y.

We arrived in N. Y. About 10:30, we made good time as we left the Motel about 7:40. We parked out at 130st street and still had a time finding a parking place and such a neighborhood. We finished shopping about 6 and had to take the subway out, so we got to leave N.Y. about 7 and arrived home at 12:00. Tavelling [sic] was good not too many cars on either the turnpipe [sic] or Pkwys! Daddy made a boo-boo. made a wrong turn coming off the G. Wash. Bridge and we landed in several small towns before we saw the TP sign again. Glad he was driving.

We picked up a few xmas presents. Dad couldn't get the record are the Golden Apple or something, he was in quite a few stores and they told him they had stopped printing it. He could have gotten it at Macy's on a 45, but when the clerk went to show it to him, she ran her finger nail across the whole record and dad said you could see where it made a mark so he wouldn't take it. We got your film which we will mail in your box of clothes.

I was very busy at work today, three days of work waiting for me and I got 2 1/2 days finished which was very good. I hope you got your work done instead of running around after your friends.

We ate at Grandma tonight had sourkrout [sic]. Kim is getting that bad habit of wanting you to chase her, she don't like going from one house to the other, she stayed at Grandma's last nite for that reason, we were too tired to chase after her, but she's finally home tonight under protest.

Take care of yourself and get plenty of sleep and keep the hands occupied with paper & pencil and let the face alone until Xmas.

Dad went to his meeting tonight.

Love,
Mother.
