A Letter Written on Dec 13, 1956

Thursday afternoon

Dear Pat:

Long time no write, I'm getting like you, eh what. I know the quickest way to get a note from you was to complain about you not writing. The day I wrote you, when we got home there was the note. Dad also received both sets of papers to be filled out, he, of course loved that.

I have been very busy, doing what I don't know. To date I have made 14 dox [sic] of christmas [sic] balls and I think that is the end, I hope so. I also did some ceramic christmas presents for Grandmas. to give to her friends. I can't hit the right keys to day for some reason. [the letter is typewritten] Yesterday I took my last day of vacation off and did some ceramics. I worked all day from 10 in the morning until 4:30 and all I got finished was two wise men and part of the third and I did have some of the work on those two done before. It sure takes a long time to do them. I doubt if I'll get it done before christmas.

What are some of the things you want for Christmas, you better send my your list early next week, so I can work on it. I don't know what to get you and I know there must be some things you want, besides an enlarger. You'll have to work on dad some more for that, he's been looking into it.

We had club at home Saturday night and if I do say so myself the tabel [sic] looked very nice. Aunt Bertie made me a center piece of different kinds of pine and fancy candle holders. Everyone wanted to take it home.

Eleanor asked yesterday what you wanted for christmas. Don't forget you have to get Ricky a gift. He goes to college next year, so if you see something that he might be able to use there you might get it for him. You won't have much time to shop when you get home, namely, Monday.

Have you made any definite plans as to just what you are going to do, just visit, go to shows or what have you.

We took Kim to the Doc's last night for her operation and expect to get her back Sat. morning. I pitied her so, she didn't want to let go of me and go to the doc. I think she smelled a rat. Peg had the8r's [sic] done last week and it came along fine, I hope Kim does the same. He wants to keep her two days, whereas Peg only had to have the8r's [sic] there over-night. Dr. Becker did the8r's [sic]. I know Kim will be ready to come home tonight.

Take care of yourself and bring some of your dresses home to wear at christmas. Your skirt is dry cleaned so that is here. You also have a slip, yellow pants and a green pair of long socs. [sic] Don't bring your typewriter again, it's to[o] heavy to lung [sic] around.

Everyone okay here, except Kim and I know she must be feeling mighty low right now. See you soon, Let us know your plans,

Love,
Mother
