Tuesday Afternoon

Dear Pat:

Received your card Friday afternoon and called Dot that evening and she said that she sent your leotard back for some reason or other, something about getting you a different kind of pants. She was going to mail her leotard to you Saturday morning. I hope she did and that you get it in time, you know how Dot is sometimes.

Grandma didn't tell me to get that material for you until I told her about the card you sent and then she said she forgot to tell me, so I got some today but don't know if it's what you want or not. But 2 1/2 yards would not be enough to make a dress, so I got four yards, maybe you didn't want it for a dress though, you weren't very clear about it. You also didn't say if you wanted me to send it or not, so I am and If [sic] I wasn't too [sic] you'll have to send it back. Grandma would have to have a pattern to make a dress if she's to make it.

I'm also sending you something that you wear inside your panty girdle instead of pants, it works out okay I tried them last year.

I see Phyllis Rubenstein was in applying for work for the summer. I didn't see her, but I saw her name on a piece of paper. Maybe she's not going abroad after all.

Dot was very much put out by your going way out to Madison, by the way have you heard anymore about the proposition. They are very tickled about Phil going to Balt. Just consider that you'll only get home about once and that would be at Christmas if you went to Madison, you better consider all those things before you make up your mind completely[.]

And another thing, if you work at the Cape this summer, you can, only if you come home at least two weeks before going to school. I don't think that's too much to ask of you, as we'll have a lot of things to get ready and come to think of it I don't know if two weeks would be time enough. You know it will be quite different from going to Holyoke.

My it was nice here over Sat. and Sun, just like summer. It was up in the 80[s]. It was too sudden a change it's started to get a little colder today. Jane & Paul were down over the week-end and stayed for Sunday dinner with us.

Daddy started to paint the upstairs, with that beige shade. I hope it will be okay. We were down at Zarfos's again last Friday and saw a two piece sectional that we like fairly well. The only thing is that it has such last [sic] side arms. They told us to go over to Taylor's showroom here and look over their complete line, as they buy from them, so I guess we'll do that some night this week if we can find time. This was done in sort of choclate [sic] brown. I was just wondering if I can still use my old drapes and curtain at the stairs. I wouldn't mind getting new drapes but to make another curtain such takes a lot of material. We also saw some lamps that were sort of nice, we also thought about using two end tables, with the lamps on them. I wish you could be here and help pick things out. We also stopped in at Runkle's and they didn't have a thing. I didn't see anything like that green piece we saw in the window. Everyplace seem[ed] to have all the furniture in that they're getting as business is very slow and things are not selling.

Daddy [is] trying to get in trim for the dance, he dances around to the music in the evening.

Kim keep [sic] me up until around two last night, she wouldn't come in. The first part of the evening, it was raining and she was just sitting on the back stoop and she came in for something to eat and then wanted to go out again, which was 9;30 so I thought well it was still raining and she'd just sit on the stoop again. But it stopped and she was having herself a ball. I went out about 12 with a flash light and she's [sic] come just so close and then run when you tried to reach her, she was having fun. Did I tell you she had her other shot right after you went back to school. We have the screen in the back door and let it open and she has such a good time with the windows open. Last night I could have chocked her though, as I had a headache and wanted to get to bed. I did go but couldn't sleep until she came in. This morning she didn't get up as usual with us, so I woke her up and chased her off your bed.

Everyone is okay here and I hope you are the same. Don't study too hard and rehearse so much that you don't get your proper sleep, as you'll be all tuckered out when Dad comes up.

Have fun,

Love,
Mother
