Tuesday Afternoon.
Hi Honey:
Well how's tricks. Did you have a big week-end. How did your date turn out. You didn't say whether the house party was at Holyoke or the boy's college. Did you stay over night.
So far we haven't had any snow although it has been threatening for several days. It was forecast for today but right now the sun is shining brightly. Did you get to go ice skating over the week-end. It's been too warm here although today is more perky.
We sent your pretzels Saturday evening and you should have them by this time. To take up the slack space Daddy put an empty box in the center. He also put some other empty boxes to fill [the] carton, but then there were also other eatables in the other boxes so you better open all before you toss any away. Did you also notice the article about Verick (sp) in the Gazette. Dad also had that paper in the box with the red markings on it. He thought maybe you might want to pin it up on the bulletin board. It looks like you're going to lose him next year.
Last night I went to Women's club and heard Gerri Lie. [?] She was most interesting and quite young.
I didn't send your jumper as yet for the reason that I took up the buttons and I haven't had time to sew them on, but Regina called today and said your shoes were in, so I'll go get them and send everything together, so be on the lookout for a package later this week.
Business is a bit slack at this time of year but I hope it picks up, so we get a nice bonus again this year, although they haven't promised anything as yet, as they did last year. I hope there's a letter at home from you, telling about your big week-end. Take care of yourself and dress warmly and also dress-up in some off [sic] your other clothes.
Love,
Mother
[The letter did not include the Gazette's article about Viereck, so I looked it up to include here.]
