Dear Pat:
Excuse the pencil bit - I haven't got a pen to my name.
Didn't get much chance to write before as things have really picked up at the Wing. Am now in full swing with all classes squared away. Don't know if I told you, but I'm majoring in ballet - HA! I hate it with a passion but I've got to learn it. It's required for all Broadway shows nowadays.
Anyhow, I have 6 ballet lessons a week, two modern and two tap. Then speech, body movement and acting thrown in here and there. I love the modern and tap classes, but I've been stiff and sore for a week - no kidding! That, I think, is from the damn ballet.
Wally Carlin came back to the big city last week. He arrived Monday and left Friday for his home. He'll be coming back in two weeks and then he and I are going to look for an apartment together. We'll probably call it "Plain and Fancy["] - he goes in for fancy stuff whereas I'm more for the simple things.
Wally, Marcie, Hal & I went to see "The Boy Friend" last Wednesday. Met Phoebe afterwards and all of us went down to Elaine's for cocktails. Real nice time. The show was fabulous, believe me. I don't know when I enjoyed a show more. 'Course, that's the type I like.
Also saw "Anastasia" the Saturday matinee before it closed. Went with Elaine. Had box seats for nothing. Elaine has connections, bless her soul.
Friday, Wally, Chris Davis (she worked at the desk at Allenberry, remember?) and I went to see "A Day By The Sea". Got tickets at the Wing for free also.
Have been to Charles Carruth's place for dinner and Hal's for dinner so far. You'll probably laugh but I felt so uncomfortable at Hal's. He's not "himself" much anymore. New York sure changes people - then again, maybe I've not yet become accustomed to their way of living.
Went home this past weekend for the wedding I was in but didn't get up to Allenberry as planned. Rehearsal lasted too long.
There's a girl in my acting class who knows Joan Feldman very well. Her name is "Fiddle" Veracola. She went to Carnegie Tech with Joan.
So, how're things with you? Mount Holyoke booming? Did you write to anyone at Allenberry yet?
I had a ballet class this morning, a modern class early this afternoon and am now waiting for a tap class at 4:00. Already, I'm beat! I'm so out of condition it's terrible.
By the way, my address is now:
c/o Mr. & Mrs. John Brion
45 W. 54th Street
New York, N. Y.I'll be here for at least another two weeks and after I leave, they will still hold my mail for me here until I notify everyone of my change of address.
Guess I'd better leave now so I'm not late for class. Write soon, hear?
Love,
Dick
