A Letter Written on May 11, 1956

Friday Afternoon

Dear Patt: [sic]

Thanks so much for the birthday and mother's day gift. They were very nice. There were three gifts were'Nt [sic] there. I hope I didn't throw anything else out as there was so much paper. I got the hanky, candy and tray. The tray will go very nicely with the new kitchen and dining room. The hanky is very pretty and kittenish. And the candy I dare eat, since it's sugar and not chocalate. [sic] Thanks again. We also got your letter.

Your laundry casean d [sic] shoes went out yesterday and you should have both real soon, as the laundry case was sent special handling and I sent the shoes first class. I hope you get them before you leave for your date saturday [sic], as you no doubt will take your good dress along. I hope you pressed your evening dress if it was messed from travelling.

Wednesday night I straightened things or tried to a little and dad did some printing for Helen. Last night I had another 19M31 meeting and dad worked in the kitchen again.

Aunt Helen and Harry are coming tonight and staying until tomorrow sometime.

Jane's mother was in the office the other day and I asked about Jane's ankle. and she said they treated it as if it was broken and she had it in a cast for two and one-half weeks and then took another xray and discovered it wasn't broken, she [is] now wearing just a[n] elastized [sic] ankle band. She d id [sic] it running down a hill on a week-end off. She has a job in the Airondacks sp. and her title is Asst. Costume Designer and Asst. Screnry [sic] Designer. A nice title with lots of hard work. I think she leaves the 10th of June and will be gone until after Labor day. Her mother is not looking forward to it.

I sent your letter off to Mr. Sallade after rewriting it. Dad didn't think you should ask for off right away before getting the job as yet, so I eliminated the paragraph about going to the wedding. You can spring that on him later after you and Pat make a schedule, she might want you to work for her sometime too.

I hope you have a nice time over the week-end, it sounds as if you will. I just hope it's nice. It's still cold here and cloudy or raining.

Take care of yourself and see you soon.

Love,
Mother
