A Letter Written on Sep 12, 1958

Firday [sic]

Dear Pat:

Sure glad to hear you arrived okay.

We had a long day at the Fair yesterday, Grandma and Aunt Bertie came out and went on the Grandstand. It sure was cold, just like winter, everyone was using blankets and I had my winter coat on. I guess it's pretty cold there. Dress warm enough and don't catch cold.

I guess Mary thought she'd let the unpacking to you since it was your stuff, I hope you didn't try to carry your bookcase to the second floor alone. If I'd be you I wouldn't get a filing cabinet, think you'd have to bring it home and you have a full enough car now, just think of that before you buy anything, How are you going to get it home. Why not buy a card table, that wouldn't take up as much room. As far a s a [sic] light they should furnish several for a furnished apartment, stick up for your rights don't let them walk over you and if everything isn't as they pictured it to you before, complain about it and make them adjust things, don't be so soft in that respect, because you're paying plenty for the apartment.

I'm enclosing a powder puff for you [no longer with the letter], you can throw the other one away. I got one for myself and the pack had three in [it].

Let us know all about your trip and be sure to check your car for your exhause [sic] pipe. If you want to buy Texaco gas get the gas station next door to send you a credit card, they'll be glad to. You can have it addressed to home, but don't tell dad I said so.

I guess I'll go out to the fair again today, I think Grandma might come out to[o].

Dad thought $5. was a lot to pay for the phone, is that the cheapest, for two listing[s] here you only have to pay $.25 extra. Are you getting the phone thru the phone co. or the apartment. If you're getting it thru the apt, they might charge you more, so I'd look into the situation.

Have fun and take care of yourself. Don't try to take too heavy a schedule that you have to work to death.

Well I must go to dinner now.

Love,
Mother
