York, Pa.
November 8, 1954Dear Pat,
I received your message, so here I am! Forgive me for not answering sooner, but I'm a busy woman. My schedule this year is exactly as it was last year, so now you know where I am and what I'm doing every period.
Right now I'm tied up in a "Voice of Democracy" contest. Approximately fifteen seniors entered, so now I have to train them before they make their recordings. So far I've seen none that would even come close to the one written by the young lady who was last year's winner. Remember?
The Frolic is well under way, as is the Homecoming Queen contest. Everyone seems to think Sara Jane Uffelman will win. I have her in speech class.
My students this year seem to be quite interested - they work hard - but I haven't the talent I had last year. I'm speaking of both English and speech. But what can one expect after that great class of '54.
I've had letters from quite a few of last year's graduates - including Bob Kachenon. They all love it and seem to be getting along quite well. Have you visited Jane or Peggy?
I hope to get to New York this winter; if so, I'll try to see Jane.
Must get to work - marks go out Friday.
Love to you,
Mary K.
