Monday night
My dearest Pat,
I will try to send a note between the waves of people who keep pouring into our room you'd think this was Grand Central Station. I was pleased to hear that you are active in dramatics. I was going to try out for our next attempt but after reading it I gave up. By the way its [sic] "Winterset" a miserable melodrama. I went to see "A Star is Born" and enjoyed it very much.
I seem to be in a slump if I don't watch myself I won't be here long. I just can't seem to get down to business. All I can think of is coming home and being with you, I've really got it bad.
The teachers seem to be trying to kill us before vacation. I have 8 tests in the next week. Our English test will take three days[.] More fun for the feeble minded.
Our football team ended the season with the glorious record of two wins and six defeats a normal season so I am told. Our soccer team was undefeated we beat Weaton [sic] second rated in the country. I can just picture little Grove City playing Navy for first place.
What does Dot have to say these days still her witchie old self I'll bet. We will have to visit her over vacation. Have you had time to write any more plays? Don't give it up for you have real talent. Now to lessons!
Till the 24th
All my love,
PhilP.S. Hurry home I love you.
