A Letter Written on Jan 1, 1958

[written inside a note card for Cape Cod's Highland Light, North Truro]

Dear Pat -

Happy New Year stranger! Thank you ever so much for your Christmas card. Please forgive me but I was not thoughtless - just remiss in that I left my address book at school and therefore did not send any cards at all this year. I know this sounds like a very unoriginal excuse, but I swear it be the truth. I owe you a letter anyway. Before I forget it, my conscience has been bothering me dreadfully because I know I owe you money for all the pictures you have so generously sent me. Please let me know so I can 'pop' it off to you pronto.

Just before Christmas I had a letter from a friend of mine at Stanford who said they had been working with Larry and that he was doing wonderful things out there. She just adored him, as everyone else seems to. Have you heard anything from him as to how he likes it, etc., etc.

For that matter have you heard anything from anyone? I got a card from John Taylor, but he didn't say nary a word. I also saw Reed the other day and she is engaged to a fella from Tenn. Surprise, surprise. Other than that I seem to have drawn a blank from the old gang. Hows [sic] the Holyoke gang? Is Martha still bouncing around and what about M'Lou? But more so - what about yourself? How many plays have you starred in, etc.? Will try and write more later, be good and do write,

Love,
Pete
