A Letter Written on Mar 13, 1958

Thursday

Dear Pat,

I had ordered a cheap Exposure Meter for your birthday before we got your last letter. I selected a cheap one because I thought you wouldn't use it much anyway and because it fits on the flash clip of your camera. The clip on yours is slightly smaller than the one on mine so you might have to file off the shoe of the meter. Maybe not thought since I reversed the shoe so that the open end of the prongs will go in first. You don't have to push it in all the way like your flash gun, just far enough to hold it securely.

The meter gives readings comparable to my meter in dim light. I didn't have a chance to compare them under daylight conditions but you probably won't use it much except in dim light. You'll have to carry a little pen light to read the dial and make the settings. Keep the light away from the front, though, or it will distort the reading. Mother says you have a pen light. I'll send you some batteries taken out of the radio. They should be good for a few flashes.

The meter can be used right in the case, but I'd take it out and use it on the camera.

I'm sending it in the laundry case along with your post card paper and half the #3 DWSM I have left. I don't know which portrait negatives you want but I'll try to pick out some and send them along.

Must go to the food market now and mail letters,

See you soon.

Love,
Dad
