A Letter Written on Apr 16, 1957

Tuesday Afternoon

Dear Pat:

Long time, no write. Ive [sic] been quite busy both at home and work and thought I'd get to write sooner and send your clippings but I have been very busy and so has dad.

Dad is painting the dining room, so you know everything is topsy turby [sic], he has one more coat to put on the windows and then he'll be finished and then I have to start again house cleaning.

We were out to Jane's Saturday.night, [sic] Jane had the table set in chinese [sic] style, tallies with umbrellas and each one had a chinese [sic] name. She called her setting Teahouse of the August Moon.

I went to church and sunday [sic] school Sunday. How are you doing, don't forget to take Communion on Easter. I think you've been neglecting your church duties lately, too.

We mailed you a box yesterday for Easter, this will probably be the last cake for the year as the weather will get to[o] hot to ship cakes. Small ones might be alreight [sic] but large ones won't.

I'm also mailing you your pin and pendant. The pendant didn't get as nice as I would have liked it, but the center pieces were all that I had left of the multi-colored rock. I tried to buy more in N. Y., but noone [sic] handled it. I left all the chain on and you can make it the length you want and can mail the rest of the chain back to me sometime. Take it apart with tweezers or something, but don't use your good ones or they won't be any good afterwards, get something from property.

Thank Marty for her lovely gift and tell her it wasn't necessary. She sent a milk white dish for candy or nuts.

Dad got the new part for the enlarger that was damaged, but hasn't had time to put it on yet.

The weather is still pretty cold here and hope it will soon warm up. I wore my fur coat Sunday.

Kim had her first shot last Wed. and we take her in two weeks, she was very nervous until she got the shot and then she calmed down, quite pleased that we didn't leave her there for the night. She even goes to the door somethimes [sic] and makes like she wants to go out, but I just ignore it. The Doc says she'll last longer if she stayes [sic] in.

Take care of yourself and Happy Easter.

Everyone is okay here. Kim sends her love, she shows it by sleeping on your bed every night.

Do you know your plans for the summer as yet, I'd like to put in my time for my vacation and was sort of waiting to hear what you are going to do.

I don't know if we'll make it or not for Parents Day. Don't count on it, Dad got word that he might have to take more exams for Field Accounting, he wrote to them and asked if they couldn't just accept his other tests, but we haven't heard from them as yet. These tests are to be held on the day or Saturday of Parents Day. We'll have to let you know later if we can make it.

Love,
Mother
