A Letter Written on Oct 4, 1957

Fiday [sic] Noon

Dear Pat:

Still no word from you. I hope you're okay. How about dropping us a line. If you're out of stamps, enclosed you will find some. [no longer with the letter]

They got me a new typewriter, how do you like the print. It makes as many mistakes though as the old one.

It's been nice here all week, although a little chilly.

Dad [has] been working on the cellar all this week to try and get it straightened out so he cann [sic] start on his dark room. He's anxious to put up his new things he got in N. Y. A huge timer and paper bank. Elenor [sic] and I got started on our copper wear but didn't get too much accomplised [sic] the first evening, we were sort of out of the way to do it. I'd like to get a little larger kiln, then we could do small ash trays and the like. The one we have now is too small and works just for earrings.

How's the art classes coming along. I'd like a nice painting for the living room, only, please not abstract.

I won at cards at Jane's the other night, although I was half asleep all thru the evening. I just can't seem to get enough sleep this week, I sleep doing my work half of the afternoon. The Rhoads bought a house in Seiling Grove [sic - Selinsgrove] and will be moving there by Nov. I guess the bridge club will have a big trip one Sat. out of the five. [Selinsgrove is about 60 miles away from York.]

Grandmas [sic] has been working pretty steadily, every day in fact. She seems to be pretty good.

Kim enjoys herself out these evenings, although she wants you to be out with her until it gets dark, then she's on her own and dissappears. [sic] I believe there is another cat around that she plays with, or fights with.

We have club at Rhoads' this Sat. I guess that will be the last time in this home. I sure hate to see them go and I sure would have liked to have their house, if it were only situated on a different lot. Maybe we can build one like it some day. Have you had any other ideas as to where you might like to go next year to school. You better think about that.

Hoping to hear from you real soon.

Every one is okay here. Take care of yourself.

Love,
[Pat's mother typed the letter and forgot to sign it]
