A Letter Written on Jan 9, 1957

Wednesday

Dear Pat,

Received your note and budget card today. Must you write those expenses so small? It doesn't minimize them a bit, you know. What was the $6.42 train fare? You better stretch these checks as far as possible. You may need them for your New York trip on Feb. 1st.

Mother said it stopped snowing for her return trip Monday. But you should see the car. It's really crusty. I had to wipe off the headlights with snow Monday evening so they'd give enough light to see by.

Let us know when you receive your laundry case -- on account of the insurance. Also Hal's mug, if he acknowledges it. You'd better wipe off the "Special Handling" marks the jerk put all over your laundry case before you mail it back. A damp cloth ought to do it.

Mother's entertaining bridge club tonight and I'm playing records thru the clock radio. I found a couple of long plays you don't have along. "New Faces of 1952" and Jerome Kern melodies.

Not much news at this end. Just work, eat and sleep. Be seein' ya.

Love,
Dad
