10:00 P.M.Dear House-Party-Date, etc.
By the time you get this (now, get this) I may already have dialed JE8-8211. [the phone number in Chapin] However, in case I haven't (due to an embarrassing lack of finances - my mother forgot to send me a check for this month, so I called her yesterday - collect, of course) this is to inform you that your acceptance has put me in raptures and I await your arrival with baited [sic] breaths. I may have to breath[e] regularly tomorrow, though: quiz in music. And English paper on Wednesday.
To return to the subject at hand, please save your busfare (you may need it!), for Rob Deane has kindly consented to bear you over the Notch on his back - no, I mean his Chev. Time? About 3:30 or somewhere in that vicinity. Cocktails at four, I think. Any objections to having dinner in the room? (i.e. steaks, Tom Collines [sic], etc.) I promise it will be better than Valentine. And if anything comes up at Holyoke (grrr!) I swear I'll come over there and make faces at you all evening! Really, though, I do hope everything works out perfectly.
I saw Jeannie's copy of "Finnegan's Rainbow" (or is it Wake?) - weird, isn't it? I'll have to see it, s'il est possible. Did you know than [sic] the Glee Club is singing with yours in March? We'll be over there this Wednesday to practice. May see you then - who knows? (The Shadow - ahaha glurb!)
Hurriedly
Don
