Tues. Aft.
Dear Pat:
Hi, How's tricks. So far Hallowe'en has been very quite [sic] around East York. Last night was the first we had anyone to the door and then just two groups, seven in all. I hate to let Kim out too much in case she might come into contact with some of the rought [sic] older boys. and she doesn't like to stay in now since she's brave enough to go out after dark.
How's the flu situation up there. Mac Mackison is very ill with it. We're getting our ordinarly [sic] flu shots here this Thurs. since we can't get the serum for the other shots. Some doctors seem to have it though.
I suppose you have yourlaundry [sic] case by this time. If you send it before you come home for Thanksgiving, send it in time so that you can take it along back with you, so that we don't have to mail it. I Hope [sic] you enjoyed your eats. You got the tuna fish because I thought you had that listed in your letter and when I got home and checked it said shrimp, so I had to make an extra trip to the store to get that, as we were going to send the box the next day. I guess you can use the tuna fish though. The shrimp and lobster are so expensive for what you get. You could take some of the shrimp cocktail along back with you if it's cold enough that you can keep it cold. I think that tastes better, although the last one we opened the horse raddish [sic] was so strong that we could hardly eat it. It sure opened up your nose.
Daddy [is] coming along with his dark room, I believe he wants to get it finished before you get home. He got Rhoades['] old dining room chest Sunday for a work table and storage. Jane also gave me some things, some nice tall tumblers that I bet you'll like. They are going to move the 4th of November. They had snow up there where they're going to move yesterday. I bet they won't come down here too much after it snows.
Eleanor and I got together on Sunday evening and worked our copper wear. We're improving somewhat, I made another pendant which I'll have to give to you.
Yesterday was the first day Grandma had off for a long time, so she finally got some work done at home which was worrying her.
Everyone is okay here and I hope that you are the same.
I notice you are going to church every Sunday, good for you. I was to Church and S. S. on Sunday too. Did I tell you I put $10. in your church envelops [sic] for you and charged it to your acct. (college)
How is the play situation coming along, did you get a part. I hope you got your 560 pages read. Peg saw your letter about what youre [sic] reading and she said it was tops.
See you soon. Take care of yourself, this new typewriter makes as many mistakes as my old one.
Love,
Mother
