A Letter Written on Apr 18, 1956

April 18, 1956

Dear Pat:

Please excuse for not writing sooner, but I have been very busy and Daddy wrote two letters last week, which I think was a very unusual thing, so I took advantage of that and didn't write. Last week was rather busy with Hobby Show preparation, I did manage to go to Ceramics Monday night. The Show was a big success I think, we had a lot of nice hobbies and everyone brought them in at the last minute, as we thought we wouldn't have so many and we ended up with about 60. The Klinedins t's [sic] had about four tables themselves. We used up all twelve tables plus about 5 of the primary tables. The Supper was a bust, we had too much bean soup left. We only cleared about 44. on the whole affair which isn't good. There weren't enough outsiders there and Evelyn Knoflas was selling .25 hamburgers for .15. Did Dad tell you he won a prize. I also had a table full of ceramics there but didn't compete.

Saturday was pretty niche here but I had to work since I took off Friday and then had a dentist appointment, so I didn't get to work outside as I planned. Sunday was cold and nasty and it's been cold ever since, winter is back again. Last night I worked on your cats and what a time they're forever breaking, I had one complete and was getting ready to scraffiti it and it broke in three parts, so I finally pitched it. I bet I put them together about 6 times.

We got your letter yesterday and we already had sent your suitcase box. I thought you might want to send some dirty clothes home for us to do up and bring along up when we come up. So the things you mentioned you wanted, we sent in another carton today. Dad did send you checks the beginning of the week, I guess you didn't receive them as yet when you asked for money. Let us know if that isn't sufficient. We will send you a check to cover the pledge your class made, darn them. Dad also sent you the filters this week, you should be getting quite a few packages and mail. We also sent in ourapplication [sic] for tickets for Parents Day. We put the early show down for the Water show if they don't give us tickets for that one you better try and get some for the last show. What about Grandma and eating lunch, the entry blank says you can only have two people. Dad says he'll eat somewhere else, maybe he put her name down I didn't ask him, but maybe he can fill in on someone else's list. I'll let that [be] up to you.

Don't try and wear that halter out in the open as yet, you 'll [sic] catch your death of cold. Don't try sun bathing until the weather gets a lot warmer. I didn't know exactly what you wanted in the way of a halter so I sent three.

We're getting ready to do our kitchen over, what a mess and we're having club this week-end too, oh me, Take care of yourself and no more 5's please, it's not good on the marks. See you soon, Everyone is okay here.

Love,
Mother
