A Letter Written on Apr 17, 1956

Dear Pat,

Long time no see or hear. How are things going for my favorite writer?

I ahve [sic] been quite busy here at school with three french [sic] courses, Spanish, and Latin (yes fourth year!) and last and least in my opinion English. As you can imagine I am slowly losing my knowledge of English. I now speak in four different languages all at the same time.

They are playing I Love Paris on the radio and that brings back fond memories of the Frolic. I'll never forget that as long as I live. Somehow I still envy Fram.

I saw Phyllis when I was home and naturally all we talked about was Spanish, Spain, bullfights, etc. I also saw the beautiful signs which she has on her walls and she said that you had sent the one to her. I wonder if you would be able to tell me where you got them so I could send for one. I'd really love to have obe. [sic] You see I am going with a boy, hmm tis better I say man, from Venezuela and I too have gone gung ho for Spanish. If [sic] course i have not forsaken dear old Francais. In fact the darn stuff is practically coming out of my ears.

As you can see my typing has not improved althoug h [sic] I am now using four fingers instead of the usual two. To top all of this I have a job here at school as a typist and also a job this summer in Harrisburg as a typist for the government. I guess the Government can't be too choosey. By the by ... what are you planning to do this summer. I sure would enjoy seeing you and talking over all the time which has passed between the then and now. Is you[r] hair still long? I finnally [sic] gathered enough willpower to let mine grow and as a result I am now wearing it in a bun.

I am also nursing a delightful cold thanks to the stable weather of New England. I cut my only class today just to sit back and relax for a change. Well, I must finish relaxing. If it is nott [sic] too much trouble let me know where I can get ahold of one of the posters. If you get a spare mement [sic] drop me a line.

Barb

Fram to you
