Tuesday Afternoon

Hi Honey:

How you doin! Today is inauguration day but you would never know it around here, everybody is working just as usual. The schools are closed though, all except Roney's and is he kicking, he says they have a republican [sic] principal.

The day is beautiful outside, but very cold. Even though the sun is shinning [sic] brightly, it doesn't penetrate through.

We had Club at Eleanor's Saturday night in the basement and I won second prize. Sunday we ate at Grandma's, fried chicken, is you drooling? Last night I went to Ceramics. I got two mugs to do for you but I'm a little undecided as to what color to make them, what do you want. I thought maybe you would like all different colors, such as yellow, green, red, black, etc. Let me know right away so I can start painting them and if you have a special design you want on them and in particular color let me know. I got a coffee size and a beer mug size, the beer mug size has sort of a leaf design on the bottom, I don't care for that but you could just ignore that and paint it the same color as the base coat. I also saw those clown mugs over at Mrs. Sweitzer's, the ones I suggested for the kids. They have the two handles on. They could also use them for pencils and etc like you do, if you they wouldn't want to drink out of them. Let me know if I should get them for you. You can have the job of painting them but [sic] you get home.

We havn't [sic] bought any Tape Recorder as yet. Daddy is making a list of all the ones he can find out about. You know on a large scale, he has them set up on regular inventory sheets, the big kind. He's really going into thoroughly. I don't think he will buy one until you come home, he even suggested that we might go down to Philly the Sunday you are home, as all that type store is open on Sunday. You know the Discount houses, or cut throat houses. I even have Harold and several others around here keeping an eye out for literature on them. We can also get different sets through the Gazette with a pretty good discount if you should decide on any of those. I guess Daddy will write to you about it some time, when he finds time. He also made out your income tax and its [sic] ready for you to sign. Your driver(s [sic] license came the other day, but I guess you won't need it until you get home.

If it's nice, we probably will take you back after this vacation. Try and think of some things that we can bring back that you won't need for the rest of the year. That's one of the big excuses I have given Dad to take you back. Because I do believe we might have too much to bring home at the end of school. So if you won't need some of your clothing we can bring it along.

Just for your information do you know we have already spent over $2000. for your schooling so far and it's only have [sic] the year. And we only figured to spend around $1900 plus your scholarship. I sure hope you get one this coming year.

You better think of different places where you want to work this summer. and write in to get application blanks to fill out and tell them when you'll be home, so you can come in for an interview if they want to see you. The York Nat'l bank and Trust would be a good place. That's where Sue worked last year. Dad said he didn't know if she could work there this year or not as they made a ruling that only one in a family could work there at one time. So if she doen't [sic] get to go back maybe you could take her place, but you have to get your application in early, and that goes for everywhere. It won't hurt to put quite a few applications in, the more the better change [sic] you have. Better do it in the next week or two.

How's Judy coming is she over her cold as yet? Do your exams start next week and how are you doing in your lessons? I guess you have been ice skating quite a bit recently and I know you won't have any more trouble with your ankles since I told you you don't have weak ankles, it's all in your head instead.

Grandma made you [a] batch of cookies last night, but she gooped. [sic] They were too thin, she forgot something, so she'll have to make them over again tonight. Did you get your other two packages yet? How are the shoes doing.

Everbody [sic] is fine here. Take good care of yourself. By the way how's your hair doing. Did you see that longer hair is going to be the style for spring, so you're just in. Do wear your hair back though and look cute instead of old madish [sic] with it over your ears. maybe if the girls saw it back of the ears just nonchantly [sic] they'd like it best that way. Here I go preaching again, well anyway wear it most convenient for you but keep it well groomed.

Love,
Mother
