A Letter Written on Jan 11, 1955

Jan 11, 1955
York, Penna -

Dea[r] Pat:

I lost track of the letter; and I believe it is my turn to write. Enclosed find one photograph of John F. Custer [no longer with the letter], please don't be to[o] angry because it is not signed. I despise signing pictures.

"Curious Savage" in my estimation was a big "flop", as you probably read Mr. Atwood gave Mr. Smith his first bad review. Things just haven't been going to[o] well down at old Y.L.T. - "Uncle Harry" follows.

M.K.P. tells me she is going to write to a couple of my friends to tell them about my bad grammer. [sic] I told her that would probably be old news. Don't you agree?

Nothing new in the D.O. except the tickets are not selling for "Mrs. Mcthing." (that's not unusual).

What I really am concerned with though, is the P.P. Players. I have had conference with different members of the "board" and things looks [sic] very favorable; but they would like to know what shows we are planning to do.

Will you please write to the two other fat heads and ask them what plays they would like to do. Tell them to get their suggestions in as soon as possible and you send yours also. I was in nothern [sic] Penna. the other day talking to a young gentleman who will be entering summer stock this summer. Strange as it seems, he had the same job as you, Teenage group like ours "the Teen Players". He told me of the plays they were considering for this summer, but since they are no longer in existence the[y] will not be doing any thing. The list he gave me, is the list I am submitting to you as my suggestions for this coming summer. I believe we can do three shows. The plays are - "The Second Man - The Cocktail Party - Medea - Come back Little Sheba - The Playboy of the Western World - Darkness at Noon - Sabrina Fair - The Moon is Blue - Picnic - I am a Camera - A Street Care [sic] Named Desire - Magnificent Obsession.["] They, my dear girl, are my suggestion's [sic], let me know yours, so I can tell Hallet B.H what to expect.

I am making very indefinite plans for this summer for myself, so I don't know whether I will be with you all summer but I can help you get started.

Don't forget! get your suggestions in soon, and tell Jane & Joan to do the same.

Love,
John Custer
