Dear Pat,

Well, here I am at last! For once I don't have much homework, no finals to bother me, and I just finished my V.F.W. Essay entitled "What Civil Defense Means to Me." It means nothing to me, but I managed to write about 900 words on it. Now, I can relax and catch up on such things as my correspondence, etc.

Please forgive me for not writing and also for being so late in mailing you your "York Hi-Lites." Both issues that I owe you are on their way under separate cover. I have been swamped with work, but I know that you understand how it is.

I saw John Custer in the hall the other day and he said that I should give you his "Greetings!" Said he has been too busy to write. He was quite busy with "Mrs. McThing" our Thespian Play for this year. It was presented last weekend, but I missed it as we were out of town at the time. Heard it was excellent, though.

How did your girl scout play turn out? I would love to have seen it. Anything unusual happen?

Ye Olde Father Office is about the same. The dummy for this year's book looks very good and I hear that a rough outline of next year's is done. Such speed startles me. Wonder what happened?

You were correct about the trip to New York. There is not going to be one. Excuse - not enough people interested in going. That was the last I heard about it. Anyway, I have my C.B. Achievement Tests then, so I could not go to New York if they were planning to go.

Oops! Just thought of something. As you know, the year book cover was originally to be red & white (white background, red lettering). A change has been made. It is going to be completely white! I'll agree that it's something we never had before, but why do it this year? Oh, well, it will most likely be pretty, I hope. How does the idea strike you?

That's about it. Write when you can, and I'll try to write more often. By the way, when do you come home for Spring Vacation?

Love,
Jane
