A Letter Written around Mar 1, 1955

Dear Pat,

If there ever was such a thing as death warmed up, I'm it. What a white night last night was! I worked from 7:30 to 11:30 on building my set - now I have the framework built. All I have to do is make the doors, the steps and the division between the cell and the other part of the jail. (just ran out of ink) Then I'll paint it black, string it up with picture wire, and voilà! A set! So far I've only spent $13.00. I'll have to rent a scrim, see Frank about lights - ah, 'tis a busy life we lead!

Did I tell you that Wigs & Cues is considering "Dark of the Moon", "Playboy of the Western World", "Medea", and a few other good ones?

Tuesday afternoon

"Dark of the Moon" & "Playboy" have been withdrawn. Shoot! Oh well, they're still considering "Pride & Prejudice."

This is what I call a busy week. Workshop meeting at 6:15 Wed. night, Liberal Creative Arts Conference meeting Wed. noon (they're having people from all fields talk, having exhibits, etc - Eva La Galienne ([sic] - Le Gallienne), Dali, etc.), Wigs & Cues meeting Thursday noon, Geology test Thursday at 11:00.

By the way, we just bought the drop the French Club's using for my backdrop - they paid $18 for it, we're getting it for $9. Our Adolphus is a shrewd bargainer. By the way, new expression of the week: Gustavus Adolphus! said in tone of great fervor and very fast.

Today is the most beautiful springy day! Sunny and golden and damply warm! New York will be lovely in the Spring!

Write soonly.

Love,
Jane
