A Letter Written on Mar 8, 1955

Tuesday

Dear sick one,

Comment ça va, bébé? Feeling better? The witch letter must have cheered you up immensely. That's what I call a letter - 2 typewritten pages single-spaced. And what the heck is the 24-hour shift? Yes, I think its [sic] wonderful about Johnnie, too. If there's anyone who deserves to go to school it's he.

Look, I was just thinking. I'm going to have to get some kind of a job this summer, so what about the Pique-nique Players? Are we going to try the "working our way through college" deal? We'd better decide in a hurry so we can begin organizing as soon as possible if we're going to do it. We'll have to arrange about a theatre or find a place to do theatre-in-the-round, and arrange with YLT about use of scenery & work space, etc, maybe a reciprocal deal or something. Consider and tell me what you think about it.

I'm selling tickets right now for the Creative Arts Conference here at school We're having all sorts of wonderful people - Walter Terry, Lincoln Kirstein, Norris Houghton - I'm sending you a brochure so you can read & envy me. [no longer with the letter] I'm a hostess, too, Heaven knows what that means. I'll soon find out.

Tonight's lighting rehearsal for the 1-acts, Wed. night is tech, Thursday morning I have an Art mid-term, Thurs. night is dress, and Friday opening night. On second thought, don't envy me!

I'll write more when I have (ha, ha!) time. Keep votre chin en haut, et soyez bonne. Ecrivez-moi!

Love,
je [Jane Foster Thornton]
