A Letter Written on Mar 8, 1955

Tuesday night

Dear Pat,

I'm sorry to hear that you still seem to be suffering with the flu. I had no idea that anything would be said about it at home. I must be more careful.

I don't know about you but two weeks ago I thought that spring was on the way. The robins were returning and the air was warm. You should see us now. It has been snowing since Sunday morning I could hardly believe my eyes. Of course everyone says I'll wish the snow were back when the monsoons set in. O well eye everyday something new and different.

I am sitting in the library and the silence is killing me. I came up to study for a Spanish test. The dorms are unbearable we are in the midst of "Hell Week" none of the pledges are allowed to sleep all week and they think up some of the cruelest punishments possible. One frat. had has given up its paddels [sic] in favor of an electric boot which really sends the victiums victim. Some of the other joys are not for a ladies years. As you have realized by this time I didn't get a bid. Unfortunately most of the kids I run around with aren't in frats. so I didn't stand a chance. I can't say I would have joined had I been asked. I'm very happy just the way I am and in my opinion a good many of the kids in frats. out here aren't college material. Carol Mackison got into "Theta Alpha Pi" is that the correct spelling? of anyway she is very pleased.

I saw a rather good movie last week "Prince of Players" to it's different but good.

My last letter from home informed me that Quay C. Snyder Jr. has arrived on the scene so from now on it's uncle Jim. The poor kid. Quay I mean.

I'm disappointed that you will have returned when I get home. If you find time on your hands when you're home why don't you get Jane or someone to come along and drive out to see me. Maybe witch would like to visit George Jr. Let me know if you're coming.

Love always,
Philip

P.S. Write if you can afford the paper, or are you saving it for the people you write write to regularally. [sic]

I'm sorry I just couldn't resist it.

Tell Judy she must take good care of you...
