Dear Pat,

Thank you so very much for the attractive card you sent last week - it was so much more appreciated because you made it yourself. I shall keep it with my "souvenirs" of Oedipus Rex - always. It arrived Wednesday morning about an hour or so before I departed for the "big city", and I didn't get a chance to write until just now (which was a good thing - your letter just arrived!). ← oops - sorry, I meant just opened it!

Concerning our exchange of letters, I must say that my mind has been much more at ease since I wrote you eight days ago - one always feels better after making a clean breast of things, don't you think? I, too, was "much relieved" - and extremely happy that we can continue our friendship, and hope you are, too. Shall we leave further discussion of the matter until we can talk to each other face to face? That would seem to me the most logical course under the circumstances.

After an extremely hectic, but nevertheless pleasant weekend I got back to Amherst about 10:30 P.M. and went straight to bed. I hope you had a pleasant Thanksgiving, too - I envy you for being able to go home.

Since you mentioned that you are free Saturday evening of this week, it would be very nice to have you come over to Amherst if you should so desire. There have been rumors of a party at old Phi Delt (the Social Conduct Committee's annual brawl, I believe), and we would be able to spend some time enjoying ourselves - and discussing things, too. It is a costume party - and people are supposed to come as their favorite cartoon characters. Nothing elaborate - just simple getups and probably a name card. Any ideas?

If you can drop me a note or a post-card between now and Friday, I will make the necessary arrangements (transportation, etc.) and call you either Friday evening or Saturday noon to tell you "what the deal is". If you have any questions, suggestions, etc. - let me know. Is that all right?

I do hope you'll come - the weekend would be so much brighter, and I could forget all my troubles (i.e. hour test Sat. at 8 A.M.). Until I hear from you -

Just me -
Don
