Monday
Dear Pat,
We went up to Allenberry yesterday but Gage wasn't around. It was a cloudy day with intermittent rain. Not the best kind of a day to see a place like that. The theatre was open but no one was around and it was too dark inside to see the stage.
Cole was up last evening and talked to Gage. The accomodations [sic] are as follows: Lodging with a family in Boiling Springs. All meals will be furnished at the Inn. You will be picked up in the morning between 9:00 and 9:30 and returned to your lodging after the evening performance. You will work about two hours or so in the morning and again in the afternoon as well as during the performance. There are no days off but it may be that you can arrange a day off now and then when they are putting on a play that doesn't require too much help. Probably they take turns doing the work on such occasions.
Mother says you can take the job if you follow the rules set down in her last letter. I think you better work the Fair, though, so tell him you can't work after Labor Day. You ought to weigh the idea carefully. You'll be tied down all summer just as you have been all winter and you'll be going right back to school for another nine month's grind.
What happened to the budget cards you were going to send home? My check book is still unbalanced waiting for them.
Well, we have to go intown [sic] for some errands and mail this so much sign off now. Good luck.
Love,
Dad
