Friday morning
Dear Pat,
This is the first chance I had to write since we returned home. Tuesday and Wednesday nights were taken up with a lot of chores that piled up while we were away. Went to Church last night. We did manage to get off a letter to Judy's parents, tho. Had to address it to "Mr. & Mrs. St. Lawrence" since we didn't know his first name.
We had beautiful weather on Monday. It was so clear around New York we decided to come down the Hutchinson River Parkway instead of turing [sic] west with the Cross County Parkway. This brought us across the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge to Long Island, past the La Guardia airport and across the Tri-borough bridge to Manhattan and down the East River drive to 34th st. [sic] It's a great sight-seeing trip, a little round-a-bout but steady moving.
I was too tired to tag along with mother shopping so I went to see RC Music Hall. Movie was "the glass slipper." It was about Cinderella but you know how Hollywood always has to change the book! Stage show was up to the usual standard. I didn't get out on the street at all. From the subway, I went directly into the theatre through the lounge. Yes I bought a ticket. They have a booth in the concourse.
We left New York in the early evening. It was just 8:00 P. M. when we entered the Jersey Tpke. Didn't get home until 12:30 but we stopped to eat at an HJ. Left the Penna. Tpke at Downington interchange as suggested by Dick Hipple. He can give that route back to the drunken indian [sic] who originally broke the trail. It takes just as long as going by Reading interchange and you have to beat your way over the Lincoln Hgwy all that distance.
I just checked your proposed schedule. What physical ed. do you take next term? Why don't you try to make that Study Clinic in the Psychology Department. I am sure your courses would all become easier if you learned rapid reading. At least talk to Mrs. Stephenson or your advisor about it.
I notice that you wouldn't need both English B3 and Art B1 for general requirement purposes since your French B21 fulfilled on[e] of the two requirements from this group. However, I think you are wise to take them both as they are essential for a well rounded background.
Start making a list ofthings [sic] that you can store in your trunk over the summer or otherwise leave at school. It might seem like a long time to summer vacation but it will be here before you know it. It's going to be a mad scramble getting everything packed up to come home if you don't plan it in advance.
Love,
Dad.
