A Letter Written on May 9, 1956

Wednesday

Dear Pat:

You sure put me in an embarassing [sic] position last night. Eleanor called for her membership card to Little Theatre that she loaned you. I couldn't find it among your stuff. Do you still have it with you or what did you do with it? She wanted to use it this week. If you have it send it right away. She thought maybe she could get a ticket anyway, but I sure hated it.

We had a nice trip home, although the sun would come out and go in. But it warmed up somewhat in the afternoon. We got home around 6:00 P.M. Did you have rain, it was sort of raining a little when we left the Hartford Motel. Yesterday was quite cold here and it's not much warmer today. It doesn't look like we're going to have any spring. I hope you didn't catch a cold from Saturday night dressing so thinly for out of doors. Of course I guess Don put his arm around you coming home, which would help some.

Mr. Sallade called the other night and daddy talked to him but said he didn't know what I was to tell him. But all he was interested in was whether you were going to take the job and dad said yes. You are to write him. and acknowledge his letter.

We're still messing around with the kitchen, dear knows when I'll get started house cleaning. The dust in the dining room and living room is an inch thick.

Your box is just about ready to send, so be on the look out for it some time next week. We'll try and send it special handling, then maybe you'll get it much quicker. Aunt Bertie is sending a black and white sweat shirt along. If it doesn't fit don't wear it.

Take care of yourself and don't rush spring to[o] fast. Try and keep you[r] new dress from getting so wrinkled along with your evening dress[.] Keep things pushed to the other end. And be sure to press your blue dress before you wear it again, but a warm iron only.

Love,
Mother
