Tues. NightDear Patty,
I've been thinking about you all day long today, sometimes not such good things. I've been house cleaning your room, although I don't know why, you won't be home anyway. I didn't get finished until 8:45 and then I had my breakfast, dinner & supper dishes to do. Today was election day and daddy had off , so I took one of last year's vacation days off to[o].
If you think you lost your black Elfrez's you didn't, they're home here, you left them in the back of the car and daddy thought you wanted to bring them home.
Did you get your dress as yet. Grandma had no rest until she sent it to you. I hope it fits.
Have you started your exams as yet. You haven't said too much about your studies this semester, how are you doing in your blue books, etc. Hold it the phone.
Well what do you know Mrs Saliday called and wanted to know if you were interested in the playground job this year. They were considering you for Shelia's [sic] job. I said I was writing and I would ask you and if you are, call home this week-end. They'll wait until they hear from you. Maybe you better think this over. This other job is going to be very long hours and too many days a week. And you'd have more money at the end of the summer and you'd get plenty of experience at the playground. You could practise out a lot of things on them. It would test your skill more than Allenberry. How's about it you could still back down on Allenberry. Just think of the time you'd have to yourself to do other things. Believe me Allenberry is going to be work & hard work, no matter if it is what you like to do. It may get pretty tiresome until the end of summer. Think it over good and if you're interested in the supervisor's job call home this week-end. I told him I'd let him know one way or the other. They are interviewing others now, but are giving you first chance. You know which way I hope you decide.
Last Sunday Grandma and I did some dry cleaning and then Aunt Bertie and I weeded my flower garden, so now you can see the flowers a little.
We sent the pictures off and hope to get them next week. I gave Mrs St Lawrence .75 for the two pictures of you, but daddy says they cost .75 a piece so when she gives them to you check with her and if that's right, give her another .75 for
youme, will you? I hope our pictures turn out as good as hers.If you get a chance measure your floor in your new dorm with the idea in mind of covering up that bad piece. Maybe you could get a plain linoleum rug to cover most of your room and then use throw rugs on that. Or maybe if it's too bad they'll fix it, why not ask you might get a bad splinter in your foot from it. By the way have your feet healed up as yet. Don't ever let a sore or blister on the foot get ahead of you, as it can cause something serious if you do, especially if your blood is off color, or diabetic.
You should be home. I have 8 Strand passes to use up until next week-end and they have nothing but dumb pictures, maybe that's the reason for so many passes. The Prodigal is coming maybe we'll go see it. A little sexy though. I also have two for the Southern, nothing good there either.
Maybe you can store your what-nots in a box in the trunk for the summer. I think you better bring your spread & drapes & rugs home for a good washing. I don't think the laundrymat [sic] does too good a job and if you took them there, they'd probably put [them] all together and wash and then what fading that would be.
We have to buy bobby [sic] a graduation gift do you have any ideas. Daddy thought maybe a gadget bag, but he may have one. He's interested in a camera like ours.
I got a birthday card the other day but didn't know if it was from Judy or you, it didn't have any name on it. Thanks.
We have another girl to do your work on Saturdays. The old girl quit for the summer to take a regular job and will be back in the fall.
I'll have to go back to work to get rested up. I'm very stiff now.
Everyone's okay here, how about you? Have you heard from Fitch yet or has he gone completely Shith? [sic] See you soon.
love
Mother
