A Letter Written on Oct 29, 1955

Saturday evening

Dearest Pat,

I've wanted to answer your letter for so long but the time just seems to have wings.

We just finished our six weeks tests. I'm ashm ashamed to say I never did worse in my life. I just about have a B average. If things go this way the rest of the semester my parents will have fits.

The grapevine tells me that Joanie is engaged but I don't know any of the details. I haven't heard from the witch for several weeks so I'm behind in the gossip on the home front.

Last week-end I was home. I didn't particularly especially want to go but the folks in Baltimore haven't been well and the other week my cousin Charlie was killed in a plane crash so I felt I had to go. I saw Jim he's just the same; just not quite sensible. I didn't get a chance to see the witch.

I just got back from seeing the school production of Sabrina Fair. I was pleasantly surprised. Most of the kids were very good and I thought the set was every bit as good as in New York.

I heard that Betsy Thompson quit school. She didn't like the kids and was very homesick.

We had snow already so think of me freezing while you are enjoying the northern sun.

Love,
Phil
