A Letter Written on Nov 10, 1955

Nov. 10

Dear sweet, thoughtful, kind, understanding Pat,

I am answering your letter immediately because you're so sweet, thoughtful, kind and understanding. By the way, thanks for the pen.

Ya know, I might be psychic because I sensed had a feeling I'd get a letter from you today. Don't know why - I just felt it, and usually I don't feel things like that; ya know? Don't know why.

Honey, I couldn't tell you about the reunion 'cause I didn't know much about it myself. Wally had bumped into Chris and Greta (they almost killed him) and they said Betsy Holt (the leading lady after Marcie) was throwing a party for the kids at who were at Allenberry. Since I didn't know Betsy, I wasn't going to go without an invite. But we got a postcard Friday or Saturday telling us where it was going to be and all, so I figured I'd go 'cause that was kinda like an invite. And that's the way it was worked, more or less through word of mouth and postcards. Had anyone known you could have attended, I'm sure you would have been welcomed with open arms - I'm serious, kid! They all were talking about you. Wouldn't you love to know what they said???

I know you can write letters but I still like to get cards once in a while. He'll probably save it and put it above his mirror - but who wants to put a letter over a mirror! Just what do you mean, what can one say to Hal? You managed to do a bit of conversing to the old boy this summer, didn't you? So talk words, silly. He's got an education, even moreso than me, so he'll understand you. Come to think of it, I never have much to say when I see him, I was just down last evening for about half an hour. Fifteen minutes of that time, he was on the telephone.

Lover girl, I should be delighted to meet you all for dinner on the 23rd. We can have a sort of fling before leaving the big city for the small town. And I shall be happy to accompany you the rest of the trip. Would your father have enough room in his car for me and one small suitcase? It'll save my mother a drive over to Lancaster. Let me know definitely what time you'll be arriving here and I'll be there waiting - but not long!

I've managed to avoid asking you this in previous letters because it shows my ignorance of the theatre - but what in the hell is D.C.?

So what plays do you want to see anyhow? I only go to the flops as they're the only kind we get free tickets at the Wing for. I haven't paid for a ticket since "Plain and Fancy". Let me know what you'd like and maybe I can get Saturday matinees.

Margie is in town now, according to Guy. She and Guy are supposed to drop up to our abode Sunday for tea. I hate tea so I'll probably make myself some hot chocolate.

I got my composites the other day now as soon as I can afford a message service, I'll start making some rounds.

A small group of us from the Wing are attending the Steve Allen show tonight. Tickets also obtained from Wing headquarters.

Saw "The Young and Beautiful" yesterday afternoon. Wasn't bad. Rather stylized, though - in fact, a bit too much. Jimmy Hickman, the guy who was supposed to do "Jim" in "Rainmaker" at Allenberry, was in it. That's why he couldn't make Allenberry, more'n likely.

Marcie's address is:

327 W. 57th St.
New York, N.Y.

I'm doing quite well in dancing classes now. I don't get stiff much anymore. Only on Mondays when I don't practice over the weekend. Finished my routine to "Rock Around the Clock" in tap class. That's a fast one.

Right now, I'm hungryier (?) than a bear. So, I think I'll soon make supper. Can't think of any more news off hand so I'd better stop afore I starve to death. Which reminds me, I lost about 10 pounds already. Everyone says I look think but I'm really down to normal. It's the dancing that does it.

So let me know about the travel plans. See you then. Write.

Love, etc.
Dick
