July, 1957

Dear Pat & Lou -

Oh magnificent day - Friday, which brings the gentle looking pay envelope into my eager little paw. The purpose of this donation is to provide me with spending money for next year, & thus is supposed to be deposited in that ridiculous institution known as a Savings Account. Ha. The record sales, clothes etc. have been of sufficient lure to prevent any attempt at hording [sic] however and thus I may have to eat in the dorm next year. Nauseating thought.

This will be decidedly on the messy side, as I am combining my daily walk with the salesman around the market to various buying offices with writing. Am modeling sports coats - delightfully easy way to make money. The mornings are a bit strenuous, but afternoons I sit in the show room & model for buyers that come in - about 2 hours of work between noon & 5 o'clock. The rest of the time I read, write advertising, or sleep.

To complete the remainder of the daily routine, I'm doing choreography & dancing in a production of Oklahoma at present. But hell, they decided that since I was so young I needn't be paid - the experience would be my reward. I can question that, but it is something to keep me occupied.

Nothing much to tell you. Debbie had an engagement party, which I didn't attend. Susie Swayce is out in Northwestern taking education courses - also seeing the boy she is pinned to who is Catholic & thus undesired by parents. Little do they know he lives in Chicago.

Please write & tell me how its [sic] going. If your [sic] starving I'll sent [sic] a care package. I Do follow the plays in N.Y. Times you're doing. Oh - saw Oya Keynar sp.? in railroad station. Am meeting her for lunch next week & will find out what's up. Do write

Luf
Marti

P.S. - Say Hello to Mr. Wis. for me.

Send Debbie's address!
