A Letter Written on Apr 7, 1957

Sunday

Dear Pat,

I am enclosing some clippings you might be interested in, also some pictures of Mother at work on copper jewelry. [no longer with the letter] They are some done with the old enlarger. I have printed one roll with the new enlarger. My shots were all in bright sunlight so I don't know whether the sharp printing is due to the enlarger or not. Do you want any of your low key shots enlarged again? That will be a better test. One thing I have found. The thing is designed for big enlarging. You cant [sic] focus a 35mm negative onto a 3 1/2 x 5 sheet in a 1" thick easel. You have to build it up on a box or something, when printing the full negative on 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 or 3 1/2 x 5. You can't use full automatic focusing with the 1" thick easel under the 5 x 7 size.

DON'T FORGET TO ACCEPT YOUR SCHOLARSHIP AID BEFORE APRIL 20th.

We saw some good shows after leaving you at Yale. "Funny Face" at the Radio City Music Hall, is an old Girshwin [sic] show made into a movie musical you will enjoy. The last reel should have been left on the cutting room floor but the rest is great.

Rogers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella" on TV with Julie Andrews in the title roll [sic] and Edie Adams as the fairy godmother was very good. The Lunts did their "The Great Sebastians" on TV> Needless to say, the performance was excellent.

The folks at bridge club wanted to know something about the Yale Drama Festival but we couldn't tell them much. Why don't you write and tell us something about it?

Love,
Dad

P.S. Let me know whether you received the laundry case and the cake.
