Friday AfternoonDear Pat:;
How's things going, getting all ready for the next big week-end?
It has been some week around here, raining, half sleeting and trying to snow, but amounting to nothing much, just damp weather.
Tuesday night we went out to the Eastern Market and there were only about 1 doz. stands operating and we stopped at Snyder's stand to get a few things, this was the first we patronized them. Their things were okay, well anyway we got to talking to Mrs. Snyder as there were no more customers around and I told her who we were and she said she was glad. Then we got talking about you kids. She said she tries to get out of Jim who he's going with. And he says you, if Phil don't get there first. It must be that Jim and Phil both try to date you and Phil wins out most times. She said her husband had to get another job as the market isn't panning out at all well. Tuesday night was ugly so we stayed home.
Wednesday night I had bridge club at Jane's and I won, but stayed awake half the night because Jane had a lemon bisque pie. By the way we couldn't send you a pie as it wouldn't keep until it got there, why doesn't Mrs. St. Lawrence make you girls one. A fruit pie would be all over the place and run away in transportation. Grandma is going to bake you a cake for over the week-end, so you should get it early next week. We might try sending you a pie crust and you could make some pudding and fill that in, if you would want to try that.
Thursday night we went to the store for our weekly visit and stayed home again, as it was ugly again.
We got the Christmas pictures and all of them are good except two, the one with you, Phil and Jim is too light as Dad forgot to put on the filter, but he knew that right after he took the picture, so we'll have to try one again of that trio. and the other one was one of the Hipples, he cut off Ricky's head. We sent for Transparency's one for each of the couples. The one with the two boys was good and the ones of your party were okay, Joan had a little red nose, too much so and so.
Spring came a little early for Judy, just so she doesn't get too envoled [sic] that she forgets to study. Did you hear from Don at yet? Take care of yourself and we'll see you soon. I hope you didn't send Dick money for your tickets, but just pick them up at the box office. When are you planning on coming home, Thursday or Friday. Everyone is okay here,
Love,
Mother
