Dear Patty
Well Hear [sic] I am home again and feeling pretty good. You cant [sic] keep a good guy down you know. But I wont [sic] go to work for a week or so I have not the stiches [sic] out yet. But I hope everythink [sic] will be ok. I told mother not to tell you till I got better but she did. Thank [you] for the birthday card. Was glad you liked the cake will have to send you another one when I can make it can use are [sic - arm] some but not good enough to beat a cake[.]
I heard you have a bad cold know [sic] you better not let it go hanging on and get in bed like Judy. Tell her I said helo [sic] I guess it tasted good out of the beer my cake I knew you where [sic] hungry for some. Well have a nice time with Fitch and go where you two like best it [is] good to pull together now don't work to[o] hard at you[r] lab work and painting[.] But I know that what you like so good stick to it kid. You come out all right.
I dont [sic] know if mother told you what I had done So I tell you[.] I had that soar [sic] that I had on my brest [sic] taken off it was discharging all the time So I just wanted to get rid of it. So I went over to Dr Sandis and told him and them [sic] he told me to go to Dr Gemill and he said it was the best to have it off So he took the whole brest off, that [was] the only thing to do, So dont [sic] you worry I am getting along alright, for he said it was not serious. It's after supper, mother & Dad are hear [sic] mother got supper hear [sic] would of [sic] called you but I thought it might stare [sic] you. I had nurses with me they took grand care of me patty I did not know they had operated on me Mildred Durkey was with me and I ask[ed] her when the Dr was going to operate and she said it [was] all over and ready to go back to your room did not have any pain.
Well I guess I have told you all for this time take care of you[r] cold and get rid of it So you dont [sic] get sick
